Let’s talk about some of the common misconceptions that exist in our field.
It’s kind of an ironic difference, when you think about it – there are so many new advances in cosmetic surgery, exciting ones, too, but at the same time, a lot of people are still stuck in an old-fashioned way of thinking when it comes to these kinds of services. In fact, some are just plain wrong when it comes to their assessment of what Botox or some other type of treatment can and can’t do.
There is perhaps no better example of this kind of mentality than the brouhaha around Botox, which became a household name in years past for its ability to clear wrinkles and manage facial changes in a less invasive way than nipping away at tissues with a scalpel.
After a while, though, Botox kind of got a bad name with a lot of people.
WHAT ABOUT BOTOX EFFECTS?
Some people believe that Botox “freezes” or paralyzes broad areas of the face. However, that’s a simplistic way to look at it, and doesn’t really describe the effect of new technologies on cosmetic results.
This is a nuanced clinical evaluation that doctors do on patients. What works for one person may not work for another. Treatments may be combined or dosed for a positive effect, and to avoid some of the negative effects like people think about that we mentioned above.
THERE’S ONLY BOTOX
Others labor under the delusion that Botox is the only option for treating facial folds and wrinkles.
Again, the technology abounds. Just look at the range of dermal fillers, and the ways that they can promote collagen under the skin. This started with some early experiments with natural materials, and nowadays, you have natural or synthetic options. There are a range of treatments that you can get, and they all work in slightly different ways, but many of them accomplish those positive goals that patients want!
NO SOLUTION?
When you really talk to a lot of the detractors of new cosmetic surgery options, you realize that what they really believe is that there’s no solution for aging.
Most of them are committed to the idea that any cosmetic treatment plan will eventually fail, and that it’s not worth trying to figure out how to rejuvenate areas of your skin.
We disagree. You don’t have to roll the dice when you come in and deal with an established company that knows how to help patients put together an effective treatment plan. Let us help you to plan for a new you.
